WRECK, REEF AND SHARK FISHING
Norman Dunlop, Sea Angling Advisor, Central Fisheries Board.
"Boat fishing at Kilmore Quay is regarded as being among the best in Ireland.
A wide range of species is available as can be seen from returns in recent
years where no less than 35 different types of fish have been recorded.
Shore fishing in the area is also of a very high standard from a number of rock, beach and pier venues.
The Spring and Autumn fishing in particular is highly regarded for Bass,
Codling, Coalfish, Dogfish, Wrasse, Ray and Flounder and no matter what
the weather conditions there will always be a sheltered location close by
that can produce good results."

Derek Evans, angling correspondent, " Irish Times":
"Kilmore Quay is fast becoming a major challenger for the best overall angling
venue in Ireland. Nestled in the ‘sunny south east’ this rural fishing village
proudly stands alongside the more renowned venues of Europe"

Joop Folkers, Dutch freelance angling journalist.
"After reading all the angling reports the first place I’m going to fish on my next
visit to Ireland is Kilmore Quay. I want to try for some Black Bream and maybe
a big Shark."

boy_fish.jpg (15539 bytes) The fishing grounds are mainly around the
Saltee Island so you can usually have your line
in the water and be catching fish, hopefully,
in just over half an hour.
The Blue Shark are caught only ten miles from
shore. The boat season runs from the end of
March to mid December, shark appearing with
the large shoals of Mackerel and the increase
in water temperature from mid July.
